The strengths of the Office of Congressman Ruben Gallego

The strengths of the Office of Congressman Ruben Gallego are a variety. Perhaps the greatest one is teamwork; they all work together to accomplish tasks. I think that this important because it allows different people to rotate on a task and make sure that nothing is missed. Another strength is that they have a master calendar, which allows everyone to see what each of them is participating in. This would play into communication, they are always trying to talk and let each other know what is happening.

If I were in changer of a similar organization I would not do anything differently. I think that as a team they all work together well.  Yet also I think that it helps that they all get along, I could not image an office where people do not get along. I know that they are busy but yet they are dedicated to their jobs and it is what helps the Office of Congressman Ruben Gallego be successful.  

Career Services Internship & Job Fair

I was able to attend the Downtown Campus Career Services  Internship & Job Fair. For the first half of the event I represented the Office of Congressman Ruben Gallego. The Intern Coordinator Gloria Galeno, felt that it would be nice if as interns we were able to tell others about our experiences. Along with what a typical day looks like, task and projects we work on. Students also asked questions about the internship as well as how was the work environment.

For the second part of the event, I participated as a student. I did not see anything the caught my attention. Yet I was able to find interesting materials for friends. Among those materials were items like the LSAT course offered by ASU. Overall I enjoyed the event because I was able to share my experiences with other students.  I wish luck to those who have the chance to intern for Congressman Ruben Gallego.  

Plans After Graduation

I'm still trying to figure out what I plan to do after graduation. It is difficult to make decisions, I think for the first time in years I do not know what to do. I know that I want to purse that political engagement arena but I do not know how to go about it. I may work on a political campaign in the upcoming year, to obtain experience. I base this idea on that campaigns are grass root movements, which grow and join communities together.

Even if I may not know exactly what I want to do, I am happy with the fact that I feel ready to graduate. I think having the opportunity to expose myself to new places will help me in knowing where I want to go. As well as the experiences I have had untill today I feel are enough to help me grow in the future. As of today I don't wish I would stay long. I know that eventually I want to go to law school or grad school.

Arizona State Capitol

     


As part of expanding our knowledge of how government works, our Internship Coordinator Gloria Galeno, arranged a visit to the Arizona State Capitol. We were honored to meet Representative Velasquez, who was elected to represent Arizona's 29th District. We were able to tour the Arizona State Legislature.We had a tour of the Gallery, which is where the public can sit in on the voting section.  It was amazing to see where some of the State's laws come from. 

Representative Velasquez, also explained how the decision process works, and it is interesting.
We also learned about the committee assignments and how they work. Representative Velasquez sits in on the the Federalism and States' Rights committee, along with the Rules committee. Overall our trip was filled with new knowledge of how the local government operates. 

  

Public Service

    

    How does your organization demonstrate public service?

    Prephase the vital role of the Office of Congressman Ruben Gallego is to represent the people of Arizona's 7th Congressional District.  The Congressman and his teams of Arizona and D.C. work hard to make sure that the voice the constituents are heard on Capital Hill. So far they have formed veterans affairs and African American advisory committees. All are interned to help voice the goals and concerns of those who are a part of the 7th Congressional District. The public service provided is to promote a more democratic America, where everyone belongs.

    The office to Congressman Ruben Gallego has a variety of ways of preforming public service.The clearest example I can give is the from the team of constituents services.They deal with case work which means that they review constituents' issues that deal with federal  agencies and refer or try to help find solutions to  their grievances. The office is a resource for all of the voters of the Congressional District 7. But if you need help and aren't with the boundaries they help you find your Representative.

I Am Poem

I wanted to rewrite an I Am Poem, since the  last time I wrote one I was in 10th grade. I am sure that many areas have changed.  As I wrote this I was impressed how all of the right words just came to me. I think that writing is a good way to put things into perspective. Yet also it allows for a place to combine everything that truly matter. I recommend you write one it help connect the dots.

I Am

I am goal oriented and strong. 
I wonder if can make a difference someday.
I hear he who is not longer here.
I see an ocean of recognition.
I want to achieve greatness and never look back.
I am goal oriented and strong. 

I pretend I can do it all and still be the best.
I feel pushed away.
I touch Andres' heart.
I worry about not working things out.
I cry because you will not see me walk across the stage and down the aisle.
I am goal oriented and  strong. 

I understand that a degree will never be taken back.
I say it all happens for a reason.
I dream of being a politician.
I try to be happy and nice.
I hope that tomorrow will be a better day.

The Walking Dead

So I do not watch a great deal of television on a regular  basis but I do watch The Walking Dead. I like watching it because the season begins in October has a holiday pause and then resumes in February. I gives me a motivation every Sunday to make sure I have all of my homework done before it begins so I can watch it entirely. Although it is a bit violent I enjoy it because it integrates key core values. Amongst them are loyalty, family, and never giving up even when the odds are against you.

Even when the world is filled with walkers (aka zombies) not all humans can be trusted. I think this a great depiction of the real world based on the idea that you need to trust but not trust blinding in certain situations. I also enjoy watching The Walking Dead because it builds the characters evolution over time and how they all being something unique to the group. Yet I have my favorites they are
Daryl, Carol and Maggie. They all are strong physically and are key assets to the group but they have many internal conflicts that they avoid.

One Month Left!

Hello To All,
I hope that all is well so far and that classes are still as exciting as they were in the beginning. I know that for me this will be the longest month of my life. I think that it is because I am extremely excited to graduate in May. Along with that comes the ability to finally close a chapter of my life that has had many ups and downs.  A road which I started on, in high school by taking community college classes and will end with a bachelors in Public Service and Public Policy. Obtaining any degree means that one was able to survive the torture in the sense that there were many sleepless nights, eventless weekends and reading/ homework overload that were endured.

Yet even will all of this I know that in the end it was all worth it even if that times I wanted to throw  in the towel. I am glad that I have learned a great deal this last three years. As well as I have found who I really am and what I truly believe. I no longer stay quite but rather speak my mind. As far as what will I do after graduation I do not know yet, but I think it is okay because it is a time to explore the real world.
